For construction products, compliance is not an administrative detail; it is the condition for being on the market. And the bar is rising.
CE marking and the declaration of performance
Most construction products covered by a harmonised standard carry a CE marking. Its basis is the declaration of performance, where the manufacturer declares the product’s essential characteristics. Those values must be correct, current and findable, in every language you sell in.
The new European regulation
The Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 replaced the 2011 version and applies to most construction products from 8 January 2026. The key shifts:
- The declaration of performance becomes a combined declaration of performance and conformity
- For priority product groups it must, from 2026, also include environmental data, starting with the Global Warming Potential (climate impact)
- Environmental requirements expand gradually to a full life cycle assessment by 2032
- A digital product passport, with unique identification and a link to BIM
The message is clear: product data, including environmental data, must be structured, current and demonstrable.
How PimLayer supports compliance

- Standards, CE data and environmental data as structured attributes
- Version control and logging for a watertight audit trail
- Multilingual publishing of compliant sheets from a single source
- Linked packaging data, useful for environmental reporting
